On Saturday evening, Estonia’s largest open-air cinema screen was inflated in front of Tartu Town Hall, marking the opening of the PÖFF Love Film Festival Tartuff.

The opening film, the Thai production Gohan, attracted a full house of just over 1,200 people.

“Tartuff’s heart beats to the rhythm of love, and so does the heart of Tartu,” said Tartu Mayor Urmas Klaas in a video greeting.

The festival continued on Sunday with Maltese director Alex Camilleri’s romantic musical drama Żejtune and Pedro Almodóvar’s tragicomedy Tie Me Up! Tie Me Down!

All festival screenings are free of charge.

The 21st Tartuff runs until 15 August.

The festival is presented by the City of Tartu and Elisa.
